Sen Akpabio speaks on Security & says some political parties are still insolvent, lack funds to make publications in the National Dailies.

Senator Akpabio says Advertorial should not be mandatory on Political parties so as not to disenfranchise potential voters.

Senator Dino Melaye agrees with the Minority Leader, Senator Akpabio on Security says, "it makes logical sense" but disagrees on Advertorials

"A political party that cannot publish on the National Dailies is not fit to be a political party" - Sen. Senator Dino Melaye

DSP, Ike Ekweremadu commends the Committee on INEC and referenced Section 6, 1A amendment on staggered direct primaries.

SP Bukola Saraki: "We've agreed to leave the party to decide if they're doing direct or indirect primaries, but we need to provide guidance"

Senator Dino Melaye also points that "endorsed list of delegates by INEC must be relied upon for the conduct of all primaries"

Senate Leader, Ali Ndume supports Senator Dino Melaye’s amendment. Says that we must put checks & ensure candidates are certified from Headquarter.

"We should decentralise the process of Presidential elections so as to save lives of those who travel to cast their votes" - DSP, Ekweremadu

Senator Dino Melaye states further that during elections, collation of electoral votes becomes cumbersome which enhances corruption.

Senator Dino Melaye says this practice will not help our democracy as its expensive, and it will create enmity in a political party.

Senate Leader, Ali Ndume says members of the party should vote for any Presidential Candidate at any date & place specified by the party.

Senator Akpabio says the Committee on INEC should be given 24hrs to work on the grey areas of the amendments to avoid rushing the bill.

Senate Leader, Ali Ndume moves that the consideration of this amendment be deferred to another legislative day and Minority Leader seconds.

SP Bukola Saraki agrees to give the Committee on INEC 24hrs to look at the items and bring it back for further legislative deliberations.
