In 1981,the first cases of AIDS(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)were identified among gay men in the United States,acquiring the designation,GRID(Gay-Related).By the end of 2003,twelve million children in Sub-Saharan Africa were orphaned by AIDS. Scientists later found evidence that the disease existed in the world for some years prior,that is,subsequent analysis of a blood sample of a Bantu man,who died of an unidentified illness in the Belgian Congo in 1959,making him the first confirmed case of an HIV infection.

Ten individuals pleaded guilty today in Manhattan Federal Court to conspiring to act as unlawful agents within the United States on behalf of the Russian Federation. As part of their plea agreements, those defendants operating in the United States under false identities disclosed their true Russian identities. The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered that Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Peremobowei Ebebi, impeached by the state House of Assembly should be reinstated pending the determination the matter. PDP Zoning Formula Is Dead – Nwodo

Okwesileze NwodoThe coast appears to be clear for President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2011 poll on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party as the party said on Wednesday that it had jettisoned the controversial zoning of political offices since 2002.

The PDP National Chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, at an interview with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, said zoning was only used during the party’s primaries in 1998.
