Altars

Jacob built
an altar
where

he met
his god
and called it
Bethel
and people started
building Bethels.
But,
where
my grandfather met
his god
and built
an altar,
people call it
“shrine”
and loathe it
with shame.
However,
what is
the difference
between
Jacob’s altar
and
my grandfather’s altar?
