Four men arrested yesterday as they planted Improvised explosive device within the mosque’s premises minutes to the commencement of Friday prayer at Fagge Juma’at mosque in Kano have been named. In a statement issued by Police spokesperson, DSP Rilwanu M. Dutse, the command gave the names of the suspects as Saminu
Haruna, Salisu Adamu, Abdullahi Mohammed and Lawal Sa’idu, adding that they were apprehended by people in the area.
Some of the suspect are said to worship at the local mosque and are Muslims by faith.
The Police in Kano had arrested the four persons for allegedly planting a time bomb at Waje Friday mosque in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Rilwanu Dutse, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in an interview with the News Agency Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday.
He said the suspects were apprehended around 1.30 p.m. on Friday after they abandoned the explosive, which was concealed in a polythene bag.
‘’The suspects are now in our custody and the bomb has since been defused by our bomb disposal experts,’’ he said.
He explained that investigation had also commenced while security had been beefed up in the area.
An eye witness told NAN that the bomb was planted by one of the suspects within the premises of the mosque.
According to the witness, some people at the mosque raised an alarm, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
Police had detonated the time bomb without causing any casualty or damage
