Rather than tell me of African independence, Tell me of her DECOLONIZATION! rather than tell me to celebrate some independence, Rather tell me when we would celebrate her DECOLONIZATION! We were colonised, right? Yes! That is a fact! And have we been decolonised? NO!We were give something called an independence, which
is merely the replacing of colonial masters with their local representatives, a mere colour change! The system that existed before still exists today!
Have we then been decolonised? NO!!
Many don't even understand that such a word or process exists, they have failed to tap into that dormant section of their brains and minds, while some assume the given independence was the magic wand that would turn things around. That is the gimmick we have fallen for!
Colonialism too decades and centuries and the decolonisation is not something that is done with the lowering of a flag and raising of another, with some handshakes and signed documents. NO!!
It doesn't start there and it surely doesn't stop there! In fact that has got nothing to do with decolonisation!
We were under colonialism for centuries and since the 90s we have been under the Pseudo-independence or Independence if you like, which I simply define as: when colonialism takes up a colour that looks like you!
Colonialism was a process - The colonial master was said to have seen savages, savages that he felt it was his calling in life to rescue and civilise, train, teach. Well, history has shown us this picture of us was completely wrong and false.
Our homes, lands, cultures, civilisations, kingdoms, development, science, technology, medicine, etc were destroyed, they committed a Holocaust on our lands and people and there after in Berlin in 1884 the sat together and carved up our homes and lands for themselves. The land they have conquered, stolen and was at their disposal for exploitation, looting and raping.
This process went on for centuries.Their religions were forced down on us, their cultures, systems vis a vis every sector of our lives! The brainwashing began, the underdevelopment of Africa began and continued right into the 20th century and after these centuries they then reluctantly handed over affairs to their local representatives while still pulling the strings from yonder.
Can you blame the common African in this time?
No, It would be really unfair to blame him. He was relieved this evil beings were off his lands. He was relieved that finally people that ruled looked like him, he didn't have to play second fiddle to other men in his homes, at least for most part of Africa.
But he rejoiced too early and too soon!he should have been a bit more skeptical and sought more detail. he was then betrayed by his so called brothers and sisters whom he thought were seeking his own interests and were in government. But to his dismay, this was wrong. For a man that had fought and dragged along, survived the Holocaust and condoned some much for centuries, it was an uphill task for him to begin the final phase of the battle, little did he know this was the easiest part of it all.
But he rather chose to stick with the illusions and false hope that gave him comfort while not yielding any results, he taught this to his kids, gave up on himself, land and homes. Hence generations of inferior, submissive and programmed beings were introduced into the system. people simply raised and told to follow the foreign system of the master before them, they lost hope in themselves and ended up glorifying their masters, saw no good in themselves and hated themselves.
But cheer up O YE African as the light of our ancestors and our heroes past has shone once again on us!That bright light is shinning and calling us to awareness and awakening!
That light at the end of the tunnel is now shinning at us! I know we have been in that dark and long tunnel for damn too long, now the light is out, but we can't even recognise it any more!
Africa has shone its light finally on her lands and kindred. ARISE!
The final phase of the battle we procrastinated is NOW!!
WAKE UP! AND LET'S BEGIN OUR DECOLONISATION! Doing away with every chain of our slavery and colonialism, start off with foreign religions- Islam, Christianity and what have you, then we go further into the institutions laid down that hold our society firmly as colonies and slave plantations!
The time has come!! ARISE!!!"
