My dear Governor TA Orji, again I thank God for making you our governor, for it is Him alone who understands why? yet, as ordinary mortals we cannot help but accept our fate and only pray, work with what is available for the common good of all. Today, Abia is in your hands, tomorrow it could be my turn who knows, onyemaechi?
Or, another son or daughter of the soil will truly emerge to lead Abia. It does not really matter to me who occupies the driver’s seat but, that the man or woman in charge is driving Abia to the greater glory of God and humanity. God’s own State’ means a lot to me and I guess same for greater percentage of other citizens of Abia.
I have written severally concerning Abia and the occupiers of that seat in the past, so this is not about you as a person but the state, because willy nilly, I am involved. The state belongs to us all, the only state I can lay claim to for now and as such I must contribute in whatever way, means to see to the development of that state. I have every fact to question your style of leadership, governance and programmes in that state. ‘Ochendo’, as you are called by your admirers, pardon me Your Excellency, for I am not one and may never be. I am wondering What is so difficult in you advancing your state economically when you have all it takes? You are highly educated, experienced administrator, and by His grace the Governor today with every executive power at your disposal. You complained during your first term that the reason for your low performance was as a result of your former boss, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu and his mother, Madam Eunice Kalu, undue interference in day to day running of your government. As God would have it, Chief Orji Kalu has vacated your government for good, same with Madam Excellency. Where then, have you positioned Abia after their exit?
Your other defence usually, is lean resources coming from Abuja for Abia State, and I challenged you on this, you do not need Abuja handouts for development in your state, if only you are organized, focused, do away with frivolous policies, corruption and over bloated aides. If you look inwards, there is so much money untapped in Aba alone but, my dear Gov; you have not considered that because every month you and all state governors run to Abuja for free oil money. You have just advertised in the print media, through your Chief Press Secretary, the ‘one billion naira agriculture loan to farmers in the state’, Your Excellency, you know as much as I do that this is a conduit pipe, a fraud about to take place against the people of Abia state. Why are you doing this to us? Who are these farmers and where are their farmlands? What was the criteria used in picking these farmers? How would the money be shared? When are they supposed to pay back? And most importantly, where is the market for their produce? I truly believe that one of the primary responsibilities of the government is to create an enabling environment, strong and enduring infrastructure for private businesses/investors to thrive. And, support can be extended to these farmers by organizing them into working groups, supplying them with information, modern farm implements, fertilizers and the rest.
I was dumbfounded to see the photograph of your son, Chinedum Orji, the Coordinator of Ochendo Youth Organization, in the print media last week, distributing cars and other gift items to lucky beneficiaries. Gov. TA, can you or your son explain the source of this funding? Is this poverty alleviation? Is this how to empower the youths? Will this OYO live after you or die at your exit? You must realize that whatever we do on earth, if we succeed in not given account here because of our deft in manipulation, we sure certainly must give account to God the Father. Abia – God’s own State is in your hands and this is what you, your wife and son, are doing with it? There are millions of able bodied men and women that are jobless, walking the streets of Umuahia, Isiukwuato, Aba, Bende, Arochukwu, Ohafia, Obi-Ngwa, Ikwuano, Ugwunagbo, etc. and the only programme you and your government can roll out to engage them is gift items, I am stunned!
A visit to Akwa Ibom some weeks ago made me to grieve in anger, I almost wanted to ask God, why He did not create me an Akwa Ibomite? I then remembered that God in his infinite wisdom made me an Igbo man and planted me in Abia, again, the pride of Onyi Igbo also softened my heart to agree with the Lord’s doing. Is Akwa Ibom not a PDP state? This is your next door neighbor, you should visit and learn how a state can be developed, it is about prioritization, interest, the zeal, passion, determination, the spirit of I must succeed, shunning corruption, destroying all conduit pipes and engaging in massive transformation of the state. Obong Godswill Akpabio, have enormous resources coming into his state, yes, but, the truth of the matter is about him judiciously using it to advance Akwa Ibom to the admiration of lovers of development.
The idea of going to Church for thanksgiving is good but, the quality of service to humanity will be more appropriate in thanking and glorifying God, God, they say sees the heart of all creation. No man can deceive God, when you deprive people of their wealth and property and run to the House of God for thanksgiving, it is time wasting and mockery of God. It is painful, very disappointing, that under you we are witnessing this abysmal performance, you are allowing Abia fade away and be counted among the less developed states?
When shall God’s own State’ get its Messiah? Abians must wake up now!
Sincerely Abia Son,
Uzodinma Nwaogbe
Maitama – Abuja.
