Things seem not too well with Ogun State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria. If news going around is anything to go by then the best way to describe the situation with the party under the leadership of Aremo Segun Osoba and with
Ibikunle Amosun as Governor is like that of mysterious piece of natural landscape in the languedoc where all the hullabaloo is directed.
The party has lately been characterised by avoidable self inflicted chaos and misunderstanding that continues to choke it. It would be recalled that some members of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria had earlier protested the lopsided formation of LG caretaker committee across the state, reportedly comprising of Governor Amosun fellow decampees from A.N.P.P not minding the interest of those they met in the A.C.N and DPA who also formed part of the alliance which ousted the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) in the last elections.
Peace may not have returned as same scenario leading to a fresh crisis currently rocking the party resulting from a report that Governor Amosun have once again shortchanged the party leadership and alliance by imposing members of his A.N.P.P/SIACO as Chairmanship and Councillorship candidate on the party across board in A.C.N ahead of the forthcoming Ogun L.G poll.
In a bid to impede on the right of aggrieved party members to protest the undemocratic decision, Governor Amosun is said to have deployed APCs to some parts of the state, especially Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency of Ogun West Senatorial District where the political tension seems to be at highest. Reacting to the development; The Chairman House Committee on Science and Technology and the House of Representative member for that constituency Hon.Akinlade Abiodun Isiaq has called on Governor Amosun to remove the APC's from his Constituency while reminding the governor that APCs were purchased to tackle issue of armed robbers as stated by the government and not as an instrument of intimidation as is being done now.
Another member of the party and close ally of late Dipo Dina (D.D) in a separate reaction, Asked "who really is meant to deal with issue of party candidates for LG - Party or Governor ?. If Party, then why is Amosun hell bent on imposing candidates and ignoring governance that he was elected to do? The member further asked "what investment Amosun has in A.C.N ? Was he not called to be a beneficiary to the hardwork of others ? I.e,these same leaders he is now disrespecting?
He advised the governor to concentrate on governance and leave politics to the party leaders because this is their role and that the governor cannot know ACN more than the people that started ACN , built ACN and gave him the ACN ticket even though he was barely a year in the party at the expense of other party faithfuls who have been in the party from the start.
